One of the best men who ever lived or died in this county, Mr. John Y. Pharr, is dead.

At his home, near Academy, he passed away on Tuesday, and will be buried today at Academy burial ground.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nannie Roberts Pharr, and two sons, Mr. J. Russell and Claud E.

He was sixty-four years old, and a member of Academy church, where he had long been one of the leaders of the church.  Not only was he a leader of the church, but was one of the leaders of his community and this county in all good works.

He always stood for the right, and opposed the wrong.  he was a noble husband, a good neighbor, a leader and loving father, a loyal friend, a model citizen and a follower of the man of Galilee.
