JOHN W. WHEELER ANSWERS LAST ROLL CALL

  One by one the ranks of the old Confederate veterans are being called to their ever- lasting reward.  The latest of these is John W. Wheeler, aged 80 years, who died at the home of his son in Commerce, February the 21st, 1928.  He was born in Jackson county, near Maysville, Nov. 28th, 1848, and has been living in Commerce during the past ten years. He enlisted as a soldier in Clarke county, and served four years in the war between the States.

  He is survived by the following children:  William, of Savannah; E. M. Wheeler, of Chamblee; Henry, of Commerce; and John Wheeler, of near Winder; and also by the following daughters:  Mrs. D. M. Burger, Athens; Mrs. Joe Hambrick, Greenville, S. C.; Mrs. G. C. Boswell and Miss Minie Wheeler, of Commerce.  Also, by one brother, Mr. Dock Wheeler, of High Shoals; and one sister, Mrs. Sarah Waters, of Athens. 

  The funeral service was held at the First Baptist church at two o'clock Thursday, conducted by Rev. T. C. Hardman, and interment made in Wheeler cemetery, near Maysville.  Formal ceremonies were conducted by the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. -Commerce News.
