Doster Sr. - Hoschton, GA - Beloved
husband & father, Lewis Jerome Doster Sr., died April 11, 2004 at his home in
Hoschton, GA. Born November 24, 1923 in Barrow Co. GA
he was the son of the late Young B. &
Mary Doster. He was preceded
in death by his
only
brother, Howard.
Mr. Doster lived all of his life in the Winder area. He was a WWII Veteran
having served with the U.S. Army as a Platoon Sergeant in the liberation of
Italy. He received the European African Middle Eastern Theatre Service Medal, a
Good Conduct Medal, a WWII Victory Medal and a Combat Infantry Badge. He
belonged to Atlanta Union #72 Plumbers & Steamfitters Union, Winder Moose Lodge,
Winder Post 53 American Legion, recently receiving his 60 year membership
certificate. He was also a member of the Winder V.F.W. Post No. 1187 and the
Masonic Lodge #333. He was a member of Nazareth Methodist Church.
Surviving is his wife of 33 years, Janice Brock Doster and children Martha
Doster Clark and her husband Derrell of Bogart, and Betty Wood of Winder,
children by his first wife, Donna Doster Bauman & Tom Bauman of Jacksonville,
FL., Rhonda Doster Stemen and husband Matt Stemen of Loganville, GA., Wally &
Pat Doster of Winder, GA., Lynn Doster Boutell and husband Bob Boutell of
Hoover, Al., and son Lewis Jerome Doster II of Winder, Ga. Mr. Doster had 17
grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. He is
also survived by a number of nieces and nephews and friends.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 6 to 9 pm at Smith Funeral Home, Winder.
Services will be Wed. April 14, at 11:00 am at Smith Memory Chapel, burial to
follow at Nazareth Methodist Church, Winder, GA.
