MR. W.W. DAVIS

 

Veteran Citizen Passes Away Here After an Illness of Several Months

 

    After an illness of several months, at times recently in a critical condition for days at a time, Mr. W.W. Davis, aged eighty-five years, passed away yesterday afternoon at the home of his son on Hiawassee avenue, this city. The funeral will be conducted and the interment will take place at Center, with Rev. Willie M. Saye officiating, the time to be announced tomorrow morning, and flowers may be sent care of Bernstein Brothers.

    Mr. Davis is survived by his wife and by the following daughters and sons: Mr. J.H. Davis, of Nicholson, Mr. W.M. Davis of Nicholson, Mr. W.H. Davis of Greenville, SC, Mr. J.R. Davis of Athens, Mr. P.M.B.Y. Davis of Athens, Mrs. S.B. Hawkes, of Athens  and Mr. R.M. Davis of Athens. A number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive him.

    Mr. Davis was well known in all this section of the state -- a good citizen, a God-fearing man, clean and honest and honorable in all the transactions of life. He leaves besides the large circle of descendants and relatives a host of friends to mourn his departure.
