William. T. Allen


Mr. Wm. T. Allen, a well known citizen of this county died suddenly at the home of Mr. John Doster,
near the city, last Friday. He was on his way to Winder and stopped at the home of Mr. Doster to sit
awhile, and during the conversation was taken suddenly ill and died in a few minutes.
Mr. Allen had not been in good health for some time but it was not thought that he was dangerously ill.
The remains were buried Sunday at Ebenezer Church Yard, in Jackson County, Rev. J. J. Shedd
conducting the service.
Mr. Allen was 67 years of age and leaves a wife and several children and brothers and sisters to
whom the sympathy of a host of friends is extended.

 

A son of Isom Allen and Doleska Cooley, he was born in Jackson County, GA November 7, 1859.  He was the grandson of Hiram Allen who migrated to Georgia from South Carolina in the 1830's.  His mother was a descendant of the Wofford family of Jackson County.  He married first Mary J. Roberts and after her death he married  Edna Roberts.
