MR. ALLEN - U.S. Air Force veteran

 

GAINESVILLE - Harold Dean Allen Sr., 73 died Sunday, September 9, 2001, at
his residence following an extended illness.

Mr. Allen was born in Jackson County, a son of the late Grover and Maybelle Allen. 
He served in the U. S. Air Force and was member of the American Legion for 51
years.  Mr. Allen retired after 38 years with John Deere dealerships and was a member
of McEver Road United Methodist Church.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 12, in the chapel of
Memorial Park Funeral Home, Gainesville, with the Rev. David Gravitt officiating. 
Burial was in Barrow Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Allen is survived by his wife, Alma Marie Allen, Gainesville; daughter and son-
in-law, Sandra and Wilford McDaniel, Newnan; sons and daughters-in-law, Harold
and Cindy Allen, Flowery Branch, A. Dennis and Jan Allen, Litchfield, Ohio, and A.
Darius and Sherri Allen, Vandalia, Mich.; granddaughters and husbands, Tammy and
Tim Taylor, Bethlehem, and Heather and Tim MeGee, Tyndal AFB, Fla.; grandson and
wife, Scott and Arlynn McDaniel, Ft. Myers, Fla.; granddaughters, Marnio Allen,
Gainesville, and Amanda Allen, Litchfield, Ohio; grandsons, Harold Allen III, Flowery
Branch, and Agustus and Joe Dean Allen, Vandalia, Mich.; great-grandsons, Timothy
and Jonathan Taylor, Bethlehem; brothers and sisters-in-law, Myron and Ruth Allen,
Alpharetta, and Grover Junior and Lawanna Allen, Gainesville; sister, Jonelle Morris,
Hoschton; sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Polk Arflin, Belton, S.C.; an aunt, Geneva
Anderson, Eastonolloee; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Memorials may be made to the McEver Road United Methodist Church Building Fund,
3606 McEver Road, Oakwood, GA 30566.

Memorial Park Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
