Little Creek One-Room School

Gold mining history exhibit

Century-old music concert

Do you like food? Who doesn't! Enjoy a one-time visit from SUWG's special exhibit on baking traditions in the West Georgia Piedmont.

Americans pressed into what would become Haralson County when the nation's first gold rush began in the 1830's. Learn about the millions in gold mined in the county through artifacts interpreted by celebrated expert Charlie Hannah.

How would you guide a young American nation torn apart by disputes over immigration, labor systems and religion? Enter the authentic world of 1856, based on award-winning research, and cast a vote in that year's presidential election.

Answer the bell for the debut of the Little Creek School House, West Georgia's acclaimed restored 19th century one-room school. Travel back to the year 1870 and see how the children of pioneer days prepared for a life so very different from our own.

What was music like a century ago? Listen to the recorded songs of that time at a free concert at the Sanford-Wade Heritage House, where you can also watch demonstrations of traditional crafts.

Numerous food and craft vendors will also take part in this beloved traditional fair held in Buchanan. And look for fun and surprises, too, like the pizza-eating contest detailed via the link below!
