State of Georgia I, Henry H. Lowe of the County Harris County and state being of Sound and disposing mind and body, but acknowledging my liability to disease and body infirmity and knowing the uncertainty of life and the certainty of death, do make, constitute, establish, and proclaim this my Last Will and Testament of all my worldly goods, rights, Credits and effects. Item 1st- I give and bequeath in his own right to my nephew, Benjamin H. Lowe,the following named negro slaves with their future increase to wit Tiger John, and Mary his wife, Ned, Cary, Eve, Sam, Ann, Martha, Jane, Isaac, Billy, Andrew, Viney, Brown, and Harriett. Item 2nd- I give and bequeath in her own right to my niece, Marion A. Lowe, the following named negroes together with their future increase to wit Chaney, Westley, Jerry, Russell, Tilman, Washington, Milly, Soliman____, Laura, Eliza,Mortimer, William ,Dealier, Mohaley, and Tumpy Billy. Item 3rd- I give and bequeath in her own right to my niece, Mary Lowe, my negro slaves, together with their future increase, namely Big Robert, Frances and her live children, Gimer and Robert, Blacksmith Henry, Viney, Marandy, Allen, Nancy and her daughters Harriett, Margarette, Jean, Oliver. Item 4th- I give and bequeath in his own right to my nephew, Andrew Lowe, my negro slaves together with their future increase, namely Harry and his wife, Nancy, their children Nat and James, also Mary, a slim black woman about Seventeen years of age, Peggy, Prince, Cloay, Patsy, Gilbert, Roanoak, Betha, and Syntha. Item 5- I leave to Mrs. Louisa Clower, wife of Thomas Clower, during her natural life for the support, maintenance, education, and benefit of herself, husband, and children and after her death to be equally divided between the heirs of her body, share and share alike, the following property to wit my negroes Aleck, Violet, Martha, Sam, Lucy, Ambrose, Betsy, Virginia, Henreatta, Creasy, and Gram, together with their future increase and the following lots and parts of lots of land---namely, lot no. 164, One hundred and Sixty Four, Lot no. 157, One hundred and fifty seven, also what I own of lots or parts of lots no. 156, One hundred and Fifty Six and Lot no. 165, one hundred and sixty five, all situated, lying in, and being, in the eighteenth district originally Muscogee, but now Harris County comprising Five Hundred and Forty-Five Acres more or less. I hearby nominate Thomas Clower and appoint him Trustee for his wife and children in the management and control of the above bequeathed property in this, the fifth clause, of my will and authorize him to sell said lands for the use of his family if he should see fit, provided he invests the funds arising from said sale in either other lands or negroes at his option for the benefits of his wife and children in access with the spirits of this clause of my will. Furthermore, I give and bequeath unto Mrs. Louisa Clower in her own right to be appropriate to suit lust and inclinations, the sum of one thousand dollars. Item 6th- I give and bequeath absolutely in his own right in fee simple unto my unlawful son, Henry L. Lowe, the following property to wit my negro slaves together with their future increase, namely Thom and his wife Mariah and their children, Liz, Abram, Charley, and Ellen, Lindsey, Adaline, Washington, the Brick, Mason and May his wife, Eliza, Jackson, Walker, Hariotte, Armand, Charity, Hand, Darcos the Blacksmith, Nancy, Lotte, over Henry H. Lowe Will Continued Harriett, Mandy, Judy, Pearson, Addam Juby, old Rachael, Minny, ______ Harriett, Emily, Fanny, Carpenter Bill, Rose, Amsey, Sally, and Lucy, the seamstress. Also all use on my Real Estate or home settlement whereon I now reside, save what has been bequeathed in the fifth item of the my will to Mrs. Louisa Clower and her children, to wit fifty acres in the southwest corner of lot no. 274, Two Hundred and Seventy Four,, No 275, Two Hundred and Seventy Five, lying with east side of the Sowachee Creek, Sixty three and a half acres off of lot no. 268, Two Hundred and Sixty Eight lying on the east side of Sowachee Creek as the preceeding Lands lies in the Seventeenth district, now Harris County. Also Lot no. 189, One Hundred and Eighty Nine, no 190, One hundred and Ninety, No. 191, one hundred and ninety one, No. 192, one hundred and ninety two, No. 193, one hundred and ninety three, No. 194, one hundred and ninety four, No 195, one hundred and ninety five, no. 196, one hundred and ninety six, the South Half of no.221, two hundred and twenty one, no 222, two hundred and twenty two, no. 223, two hundred and twenty three, no. 224, two hundred and twenty four, no. 160, one hundred and sixty, no, 162, one hundred and sixty two, no, 163, one hundred and sixty three. All the afore mentioned lands are situated lying, and being in the Seventeenth and eighteenth district now Harris County and can be better understood by referring to a map I have of said lands. Also fourteen mules and Jack and Jennett,the breed mares, two yoke of oxen, twenty head of cows, twenty of sheep, my carriage, two road waggons (sic), one ox cart, all my stock of hogs and and working tools-plantation blacksmith, carpentry, and cotton gins together with the Crop of every description that is raised on the farm the year of my death. The horses, mules, Jack and Jennett, together with waggons (sic) willed to Henry L. Lowe in this clause, he shall have the right of selecting out of the stock on my farm at my death, also all my household and kitchen furniture save the portraits of myself and my wife and such other articles as I may see fit to dispose of during my life. Item 7 I give and bequeath absolutely in his own right to my namesake, Henry L. Naramore, son of Sylvester Naramore of the nineteenth district of Harris County One Thousand Dollars. Item 8 I give and bequeath absolutely in her own right to Sarah A Crews, daughter of Col R. J. Crews, late of Harris County, deceased, One Thousand Dollars. Item 9 I will and direct that all of the negroes disposed of in this my will and testament shall be kept on the farm until the first day of January next after my death, then to be turned over by my executors to the several legatees or their lawful representatives. Item 10 I will and direct that all stock not otherwise disposed of together with runaway slaves thing or things either real or personal that may belong to me be sold and the proceeds thereof be added to my pecuniary capital of notes and money to be disposed of in the manner herein after described and directed. Item 11 I will and direct that after paying all just debts held against me whether in the form of notes accounts, Deeds of gifts not paid Henry H. Lowe Will Continued before my death together with all pecuniary gifts and bequest by me made in this my will and testament after paying all of which the balance of my pecuniary estate or capitaal to be equally divided to share and share alike between Benjamin H. Lowe, Mariah A. Lowe, Mary Lowe, and Andrew Lowe, all children of my brother, Benjamin T. Lowe and my son Henry L. Lowe in their own rights. Item 12 I hearby nominate and appoint my son, Henry L. Lowe and Pleasant J. Phillips of Muscogee County my executors to carry this my last will and testament into effect. I furthermore give and bequeath to said Pleasant J. Phillips the sum of Five Thousand dollars as a special bequest, besides he is to be allowed the Legal commissions in carrying this, my will, into execution. In testimony whereof I have here unto set my hand and affixed my seal this the day, 16th day, May, One Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty Four. Signed and Sealed in the presence of Henry H. Lowe L.S. Lowe of Harris County Georgia Item 1 In addition to what I have previously willed to Mrs. Louisa Clower, wife of Thomas Clower, of Harris County, Georgia, I give and bequeath unto her in her own right the sum of Four Hundred Dollars to purchase her a pair of horses, and my wife’s gold watch and chain. Item 2 As different members of my family are contending and soliciting the portraits of my wife and myself, for the purpose of appeasing what feelings might and do exist on that matter, I deem it most prudent to give them to my Niece, Mary P. Lowe. Item 3 In addition to the Executors appointed in my last Will, I furthermore appoint my brother, Benjamin T. Lowe and furthermore appoint him Guardian for his minor children in the matter of all effects bequeathed to them under my Last Will and Testament. Item 4 I request that after my death my body be interred at Mt. Zion Church on the left side of my esteemed and departed wife. I wish the graves of myself and wife to occupy one fourth of the space surrounded by the railings in the South West corner. The other fourth in the southwest corner to be occupied by the graves of my brother and his wife, the balance to be appropriated to the burial of my relations according to circumstances. I also bequeath to my niece, Mariah A. Lowe, my horses and cabriolet during her singleness, after her marriage the same to be transferred to Mary T. Lowe.
