In the name of God Amen. I David Laney now of the county Of Harris of the said State being of Sound mind, do make and constitute this my last Will and Testament revoking all others
Item 1 I give and bequeath unto my wife Nancy for and during her natural life, The South half of the lot of land that I am now living on known and distinguished as lot- No: one hundred and fifty one
Item 2 I give and bequeath unto my wife Nancy for and during her natural life my negro woman Mary about-thirty two years of age and her two children (to wit) Adaline about Seven years of age and Ann about two years of age. I also give and bequeath to my wife Nancy horse and buggy, One cow and calf, one Sow and pigs and one years provision. All of the above named property embraced in Items 1 and 2 after the death of my wife Nancy I desire to be sold By my Executor and equally divided between my children Nancy Hargett, Frances Poore, Sarah Hargett, Rachael Almond Susan Delamar John W. Laney and Elizabeth Whitten
Item 3 I give and bequeath unto my Son John W. Laney the North half of the lot of land that I am now living on know as Lot- No One hundred and fifty one with all the rights-members and appurtenances to said Lot- of land in any wise appearing and belonging forever
Item 4 I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary Hargett five hundred Dollars in cash it- being all that I desire her to have from my estate, owing to no unnatural affections to her: but owing to the treatment of her husband to me and my wife
Item 5 I give and bequeath to my Grand Son William Otts two hundred dollars in cash
Item 6 I give and bequeath to my Grand Daughter Mary Jane Otts two hundred Dollars in cash. I also appoint- my Grand Son William Otts trustee for the amount- I have left- my Grand Daughter named above
Item 7 I give and bequeath to my Grand Son William Campbell One hundred Dollars in cash
Item 8 I will and direct- that the balance of my property both real and personal or of whatever character it may be onr Wherever found, be equally divided between my shildren (to wit-) Nancy Hargett, Frances Poore, Sarah Hargett, Rachael Almond Susan Delamar, John W. Laney and Elizabeth Whitten.
Item 9 I constitute and appoint- my Son John W. Laney Executor to this my last-Will and Testament In Witness wheneof I have hereunto Set-my hand and Seal this 28 day of September 1855.

Personally
appeared before me in open Court John W. Laney and produced a paper writing
purporting to be the last Will and Testament of David Laney late of said county
decd in which instrument the said John W. Laney is appointed Executor and two of
the witnesses to wit-: John J. Little and Joel Dennis which witnesses being duly
sworn deposeth and sayeth that they Saw David Laney the Testator Sign, Seal,
deliver, and publish the instrument now presented as his last-Will &
Testmanent freely, voluntarily and of his own accord and without any compulsion
or influence whatever that at-the execution of the said Will Said Testator was
of sound and disposing mind and memory that they deponents-Signed Said Will as
Witnesses in the presence of the Testator and at-his Special instance and
request- and in the presence of each other and that they Saw Ransom D Little and
O. H. Smith Sign the Same as witnesses in his presence and at his
request
