Ellerslie Social Notes

Ellerslie, Ga., May 23 - (Special)

Miss Annie H. Brown left Ellerslie for her home in Davidson, N.C., Wednesday morning.

Misses Mabel and Evelyn Redding and Allene Hooten went up to Shiloh, Ga., Friday morning to attend the recital of Miss Kate Redding's music class there Friday evening.

Mr. Enoch Jordan came out from Columbus Sunday afternoon and was the guest of Dr. J.C. Hooten.

Mr. Homer Green is in Ellerslie having returned Wednesday morning.

Misses Sallie Lou and Meg Redding and Mr. Charles Redding arrived in Ellerslie Wednesday night from Bowman, Ga.

Mrs. Catherine Bussey, who has been visiting in Ellersville for the past two weeks, returned to her home in Waverly Hall Thursday morning. She was accompanied by Mrs. R.A. McFarlane.

Mr. Charles Redding visited Columbus Thursday.

Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Greer of Raleigh, spent Sunday with Mrs. S.D. Greer.

Mrs. B.T. Pearson has returned to Columbus, after having spent a week with her parents here. Mr. Pearson came out Sunday.

Mr. John Willis of Concord, visited relatives here Sunday.

Miss Maggie Green is at home again from a delightful trip to Talbot county.

Mrs. Jim Hamilton spent Thursday in Columbus shopping.

Hamilton Happenings

Hamilton, Ga., June 20 - (Special)

Mr. John Walton, of Columbus, spent Sunday in town with homefolks.

Martin Copeland Brooks and little Miss Lyna Cook have returned from a pleasant visit to Atlanta.

The Teachers Institute was held in the new Courthouse this week. The attendance was good and much benefit derived from the exercises under the proficient management of Commissioner Thomason and the teaching of Professor Bell of Chipley.

Mr. Alfred Walton, of Columbus, visited his mother Sunday.

Mr. Britain J. Williams has begun work on his new residence on the lot below the college, the old one having been renewed. The work is in charge of Mr. Home Harris, which is to say it will be a very attractive home and add greatly to that part of the town. The old landmarks are gradually disappearing.

Mr. C.H. Cook visited Columbus on last Thursday.

Judge Eugene Ray returned Thursday afternoon from Columbus.

Dr. R.P. Griffin came up Thursday afternoon on a business trip.

Mrs. John M. Hudson spent Thursday in Columbus.

Ellerslie Notes

Ellerslie, Sept. 19 - (Special)

Rev. Mr. Broom, of Thomaston, will preach here Sunday morning at 11 o'clock and in the evening at 7:30. Sunday school in the afternoon at 3. Everybody is most cordially invited to attend the services. All members especially are requested to be present.

Ellerslie people have been taking advantage of the opportunity of going to Cataula this week to hear Rev. T.W. Calaway of Macon preach.

Mrs. Jackson of Midland and Miss Bessie Jordan of Columbus visited Mrs. Roger W. Smith here this week.

Miss Julia Swint went to Columbus Wednesday. She will take up the study of music at Chase's Conservatory.

Mr. Emmet Swint spent Wednesday in Columbus.

Hamilton Happenings

Hamilton, Ga., Jan 8 - (Special)

Rumor says that wedding bells will shortly ring in our town.

The children of the Juvenile Missionary Society rendered a splendid program at the Methodist church on Tuesday evening which was arranged on the instigation of the pastor, Rev. R.W. Cannon, for the benefit of the Macon, Georgia Orphanage of the South Georgia Conference.

The occasion met with the approval of all and was shown by the many contributions that filled an overflowing barrel that had been previously arranged. A fine cash contribution was also sent in. Below is given the splendidly arranged program, in which the participants acquitted themselves with credit.

The young people of the town had quite a gay time socially during the holidays.

Mrs. James Erskine McRee and son, of Stephens, Ga., and Mrs. R.L. Edmonds, of Columbus, are guests of Mrs. J.F.C. Williams.

Mr. Copeland Brooks, who is attending the Tech, spent Christmas at home.

Mrs. A.E. Copeland spent Monday in the Queen City.

Mrs. M.F. Barnes, of Atlanta, Ga., is visiting her daughter, Mrs. R.T. Mobley.

Messrs. A.F. Copeland, Jr., Cecil Cook and Copeland Brooks entertained their young friends on Friday evening at the lovely home of Mr. and Mrs. C.H. Cook.

Hamilton Happenings

Hamilton, Ga., Jan. 15 - (Special)

Mrs. Charles L. Hudson, Jr. and babe returned this week after a visit to relatives in Florida.

The Preachers Institute of the Columbus district convenes here Monday. Rev. Bascomb Anthony, of St. Luke, Columbus, will deliver the introductory sermon, and as a number of visiting ministers will be present some fine sermons may be expected. An invitation is extended to all to be present.

Messrs. Osie Cook, of Columbus, M.H. Cook of Atlanta, and little daughter, Elizabeth Fortson, were guests Sunday of Mr. Cook and family.

Mrs. A. Copeland has arranged a nice program for the Busy Bees at the Baptist church Sunday evening.

Miss Ruby Mobley returned this week from a visit to Queen City friends.

Mr. J.M. Mobley spent a day or two at Experiment, Ga. this week.

Mr. Albert Mobley has accepted a position with a Savannah, Ga. firm and has entered upon his new duties.

Hamilton Happenings

Hamilton, Ga., Jan. 22 - (Special)

A pretty home wedding was solemnized on Wednesday evening at 6:30 at the bride's home on College Avenue, when Miss Allen Mobley became the bride of Mr. W.C. Crye.

The wedding was attended by only near relatives invited to witness the beautiful ceremony. Miss Mobley, the daughter of Mrs. R.B. Mobley is a young lady admired for her many charming traits of character, which have endeared her to all that know her. Mr. Crye, who is agent for the Central at this place, has been a resident here only a short while but has made many friends in a personal and business way. The young couple begin married life with the best wishes of their friends and acquaintances. After congratulations the bride and groom left for Thomaston, Ga., for a visit to the bride's relatives, Judge and Mrs. J.B. Burnside.

The Busy Bees rendered a splendid program at the Baptist Church on Sunday evening, which was very much enjoyed. Below is given the program in full.

The Preachers Institute convened here Monday evening. A number of prominent ministers were present and some eloquent sermons were delivered and greatly enjoyed. Hamiltonians as usual entertained the visitors most royally.

Mr. and Mrs. James M. Kimbrough of Experiment, Ga., were with relatives this week.

Hamilton Happenings

Hamilton, Ga., Feb. 5 - (Special)

Sunday was an ideal church going day, and a fine congregation greeted Rev. R.W. Cannon at the Methodist church. At the morning service Mrs. Cannon very sweetly rendered a solo.

Mrs. Daisy Bryan Lewis, of Raleigh, N.C. arrived Monday to visit her aunt, Mrs. S.S. Williams.

At the close of the S.S. hour of Sunday morning at the M.E. church, Miss Willie Mobley was presented with a very beautiful medal in appreciation of her punctuality, she having been present every Sunday for two years.

Waverly Hall Notes

Waverly Hall, Feb. 5 - (Special)

Dr. and Mrs. G.T. Garr, of Columbus, spent several days in town making preparation to move to their home on Third Avenue. Everyone regrets very much to give them up.

Mrs. McKendry of Richmond, Va., is spending several days with her aunt, Mrs. Barnie Robinson.

Mrs. Joe Beane, who has been with her mother for several days, left Tuesday morning for Gainesville for little Joseph Jr.'s health.

Dr. B.N. Bassey returned Wednesday from a business trip to Gainesville and Atlanta.

Dr. Stanford went to Atlanta Wednesday on business.

Miss Nettie McCulloh spent Saturday in Columbus.

Mr. W.R. Parker of Shiloh and Miss Edwards of Virginia spent Wednesday here the guests of Mrs. Peacock.

Mrs. Gus Whitehead entertained Sunday at dinner in honor of Mrs. Adams and Miss Mary Griffith of Columbus. Mr. and Mrs. T.B. Dixon, Mr. and Mrs. W.M. Barker and Miss E.M. McCulloh were those invited.

Everybody is anxiously awaiting for work to begin on the new drug store.
