GEORGIA, PIKE COUNTY

 

                        This Indenture, made this twenty ninth day of November in the year one thousand eight hundred and fifty, between Elbridge Winslow of said County of the one part, and James E. Berry of the County of Hancock of the other part - Witnesseth - that the said Elbridge Winslow for and in consideration of the sum of twelve hundred and fifty dollars to him paid by the said Berry the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged has bargained and sold, and hereby does bargain sell and convey to the said James E. Berry his heirs and assigns All that lot and parcel of land situate and lying in the village of Sparta in the County of Hancock on the corner of Broad & Miles Streets, and bordered by the land of George Rives on the South & West, in the possession of Doctor A. S. Brown being the lot of land conveyed by Harry M. Lanier to said Winslow by deed bearing date the 31 August 1844 and herewith delivered, and which is therein described as

“ in and adjoining the village of Sparta on which the residence of said Winslow now stands, being bounded on the road on the North, by the Street on the east & embracing the land on which the fence Stands enclosing the Dwelling of said Winslow, containing one acre more or less, with all & singular the tenements and appurtenances to the same belonging”.

             To Have and to Hold said lot of land with the tenements to him the said James E. Berry, his heirs and assigns forever - and the said Winslow does covenant with said Berry his executors, administrators and assigns that he has a good and valid title to said lot of land, and the same to him the said Berry his heirs and assigns, against the claim of all persons he will warrant and defend.

            In witness whereof the said Winslow has hereto subscribed his name and set his seal the date aforesaid.
