GEORGIA, HANCOCK COUNTY

 

            This Indenture, made and entered into this Second day of December in the year one thousand eight hundred and fifty two, between James E. Berry of the said County and state of the one part & Richard M. Johnston of the said County and state of the other part - Witnesseth - that  for and in consideration of the sum of sixteen hundred dollars, cash in hand paid by the said James Berry the said Richard M. at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, the said James E. hath given  granted sold and conveyed and doth by these presents, give, grant, sell and convey unto the said Richard M. his heirs and assigns, ( all that lot of land lying in the village of Sparta, county and state aforesaid on the corner of Broad and Metes Streets & bounded by the land of Thomas T. Windsor.  (formerly Rives) on the south and west, being the lot conveyed by Henry M. Lanier, to Eldridge Winslow by deed of Aug. 31, 1844, and by the said Winslow to the said James E. by deed of Nov. 29, 1850. both deeds being here delivered, all containing one acre more or less).

             To Have and To Hold said bargained premises together with all the rights members and appurtenances and tenements to the same in any wise belonging unto him the said Richard M. his heirs and assigns forever in fee simple.

             And the said James E. the said bargained premises, for himself his heirs executors, the right and title of the said premises unto the said Richard M. his heirs and assigns will forever and defend against the claims of himself and of all others.

            In witness whereof the said James E. hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal, the             day and date above written.
