BOLLING, BOLING |
26 Nov 2007 |
BOLLING - BOLING, William &
Nancy both born abt 1772-1773; Wm in Ireland or NC, Nancy in
NC. Children: Merrell (1800 NC), William (1804/1806 NC),
Willaby (1807 NC), Nancy (1816), Allen; possibly Celia (1798
NC), Waney and Rhoda. Migrated into Habersham Co from NC
anywhere between 1812-1818. I have found deed record
entries as early as 1818. Wm Bolling and Absolm Holcombe
were the administrators of the estate of William BOLLING in
1829. He lived on the Hudson River (Mountain Creek?) in what
is now Banks Co. I cannot find any record as to the date of
death or where buried. I found a "deed of gift to son Allen
Boling" from his mother Nancy on 1st day of August 1836 "in
the consideration of the good will and affection I have for my
son Allen Boling." I have found another "deed of dower of
land on the Hudson River of 275 acres on which she lives" from
Nancy Boling to William Boling of Cherokee Co dated 17th day
of February 1948. So Nancy lived in Habersham Co at least
until 1848. I cannot find a record of her death or burial.
Can anyone help me? I live in TX. Thank you.

Sarah and her husband Eaton HOLLOMAN lived in Habersham County, GA; Hancock County, GA; Stewart County, GA (where Eaton HOLLOMAN died before the 1850 census. Sarah then moved with one of her children to Crawford County, GA where she died 27 Oct 1831. Their known Children: Mark HOLLOMAN 25 Jul 1812 Cassandra HOLLOMAN 17 Jun 1815 John J. HOLLOMAN 13 Sep 1817 William Eaton "Jack" HOLLOMAN 08 Jun 1829 Amanda HOLLOMAN 28 Jul 1831 Their son William Eaton (Jack) HOLLOMAN named his children with what are apparently family names, as many I can recognize, others I can't identify but suppose they reflect clues to ancestors that I do not know. His children were: Eaton HOLLOMAN William HOLLOMAN James HOLLOMAN Sarah HOLLOMAN Dixon HOLLOMAN David Britt HOLLOMAN Mark HOLLOMAN Zuliene HOLLOMAN On her marriage record, her surname is spelled "DICKSON" but in their Family Bible it is spelled DIXON, and she has a grandson named Dixon Holloman. Does anyone recognize anything about this family? Thank you for any help or suggestions.

SMITH | 07 Mar 2009 |
I have hit a dead end with my great great grandfather, John E. Smith. On his pension application from his service in the Civil War he showed Habersham County as his place of birth. He was born 19 March 1827 and died 11 Apr 1911 in Hancock County, Georgia. I believe the E. was probably for Ezekiel because my great grandfather was named Ezekiel. I noticed in your cemetery records you listed the following: Smith, John Exekiel, 02-02-1936; 05-09-1971; Hazel Creek Baptist Church; Smith, John E., 08-18-1882; 05-28-1956; Sallie Boling; A pastor; I am hoping there may be a connection. I would like very much to continue with this line. |

James (Jim) H. WATSON (my gggrandfather) and/or Martha E.
CLARK (my gggrandmother); both lived in Habersham County. Jim
WATSON was born in SC in 1828, and Martha E. CLARK was born in
SC in 1834. I believe that Jim WATSON was the clerk of the
court in Habersham County at one time. I know he and she are
buried at Old Mud Creek Cemetery. The 1880 Census shows them
living at Liberty Hill, Habersham County. I would really like
to find out his parents if possible. I think her parents may
be John H. CLARK and Eleanor Blakely ASHMORE, but I have no
dates on them except marriage 1829 in SC, and they were both
in the 1840 census. I wish I knew where to look next.

WEST | June 12, 2011 | Jerry L. West |
Wm. Harvey West was born in Habersham Co 19 Oct 1832. I have been searching for his parents for 30 years with no luck. The West family migrated into Habersham before 1830, but have no idea who they were or from where. |

My gr-gr-grandfather was Jackson A. Youngblood who was born in Habersham County, Georgia on June 15, 1842. Jackson served with the Confederate Army during the Civil War. His unit was the 23rd regiment, Georgia Infantry. Jackson married Mary Ann Hicks on June 5,1867 in Union County, Georgia. Jackson and his wife Mary can be found on the 1870 and 1880 Union County, Georgia census. I believe that my Jackson Youngblood can also be found in Union County on the 1860 census, he is listed as a 15 year old and he is staying in the household of Daniel Mathis.( I don't know if he would be related to these Mathis's or not). Jackson and wife Mary had the following children. Henry A. Youngblood b.1866 , Rosetta C. Youngblood b.1868, George A. Youngblood b.1873, Virgil Youngblood b.1875, John Youngblood b.1877, Jackson Youngblood Jr. b.1879, Laura Youngblood b.1882, Louisa Youngblood b.1884, Callie Lee Youngblood b.1888. Callie is my great-grandmother. Mary and Jackson were in Roane County, TN by the time of the 1900 census was taken. In 1910 they were in Cumberland county, TN and in 1920 census they were in nearby Morgan County, TN. But anyway, the reason for my query is that I am looking for the parents of Jackson A. Youngblood and Mary Ann Hicks. I am lead to believe that Jackson's father may have been either Seaborn Youngblood or Ransom Youngblood. I believe that Mary Hicks father may have been Berry Hicks. I would like to hear from other family members who are related to my Youngblood's and Hicks and who could help to confirm the ancestors of my Mary and Jack Youngblood.
