A View of Clarkesville Square This photo was made from the roof of Carey's
Department Store in the late 1940's. The trolley tracks and
gazebo were removed when automobiles replaced the need for
trolley transportation. |
The first Clarkesville Baptist Church was built in 1889 on the corner of Water & Bridge Streets. The church consisted of 2 rooms and this original site served as the Clarkesville Baptist Church for 50 years. Submitted by G. C. Oliver |

Stanford Hall (Clarkesville) The home was built by Stanford and was a replica of their home in England. Later owned by the Minus Family. The house burned approximately in the late 1930's. Submitted by G. C. Oliver |
Clarkesville Methodist Church Built 1901 ..... Burned 1937. The church was under construction a few months later when a second blaze destroyed the construction process. The church was again rebuilt and the first service was held in October of 1938. Submitted by G. C. Oliver |
