Mr. Irenus Ketron, a son of Mrs. Rose Ketron, of
Gainesville, died at Bakersfield California, Sunday at 6 p.m.
of pneumonia. He had been in the west for several years and
was engaged in the oil refining industry. He is survived by
his mother and the following brothers and sisters: Marrin, who
lives in the west, Harold W., of Washington, D.C., Peyton, of
Texas, Clyde, of Oklahoma, Grover, of CA, Mrs. H. M. Cooper
and Miss Ruby Ketron of this city. Funeral and temporary
interment was held at Bakersfield Cali. yesterday. The
sympathy of friends is extended to the bereaved family. --The

Kimmell, Willie Mae Bramblett
Funeral services for Willie Mae Bramblett Kimmell, 81, of Taylors, S.C., were
held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 13, at First Assembly of God, Greenville, S.C.,
with burial in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Mrs. Kimmell died Thursday, Jan. 9,
2003. Born in Demorest, she was the daughter of the late Earnest and
Lorena Jordan Bramblett. She was a member of First Assembly of God.
Survivors include her husband, Paul Kimmell of Taylors, S.C.; daughters, Gloria
Isreal of Mauldin, S.C., Mary Mills of Simpsonville, S.C.; sons, Paul J. Kimmell

Kinsey, Paul Edgar
Funeral services for Paul Edgar Kinsey, 72, of Cleveland were held at 2 p.m.
Sunday, Feb. 16, at Alexander’s Gateway Chapel Funeral Home. The Rev. Verner
London, the Rev. Dennis Taylor and the Rev. Lester Haynes officiated, with
burial in Mt. Vernon Holiness Church Cemetery in Habersham County. Mr.
Kinsey died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at Kindred Hospital of Atlanta from
injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Mr. Kinsey was a native and
lifelong resident of White County. He attended Mt. Vernon Holiness Church at the
time of his death. He was employed with the Times of Gainesville as a route
delivery person. He was preceded in death by his brother, Clifford Kinsey;
sisters, Mamie Tolbert, Lessie McCallister; and grandson, Randy David Bryan.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Kinsey of Cleveland; son and daughter-in-law,
Daniel and Sue Kinsey of Cleveland; sons, Mitchell Kinsey and Boyd Kinsey, both
of Cleveland; daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Harry Fussell of Cleveland,
Brenda and Stanley Oliver of Clarkesville; brother, Clyde Kinsey of Cleveland;
sisters, Alma Kinsey, Ethelene McCallister and Della Henderson, all of

Land, W. Quinton
Funeral services for W. Quinton Land, 82, of Cornelia were
held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 23, at Whitfield Funeral Home,
North Chapel. The Rev. Terry Rice and the Rev. Jack Hardeman
officiated with burial in Yonah Memorial Gardens. Mr. Land
died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, at a personal care home. Born in
Fulton County on July 17, 1920, he was the son of the late
John Wesley and Ada Laura Smith Land. He was preceded in death
by his brothers, Fletcher Land, Jake Land and Frank Land. Mr.
Land was a U.S. Army World War II veteran, and prior to
retirement was co-owner and manager of Sandy Springs Hardware.
He was a member of Level Grove Baptist Church and a former
member and deacon of Sentell Baptist Church in Atlanta.
Survivors include his wife, Irene Sutton Land of Cornelia;
daughter and son-in-law, Anita L. and Tommy Parker of
Cornelia; son, Thomas Wesley Land of Atlanta; sister, Amanda
Brackett of Decatur; grandchildren and spouses, Kelly R.

Lanier, Florene Ansley
Funeral services for Florene Ansley Lanier, 62, of Barnesville, formerly of
Cornelia, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin
& Stewart Funeral Home. The Rev. Ralph Smith will officiate, with burial in
Yonah Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Lanier died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, at
Christian Ministries Hospice, Griffin. Born in Habersham County on July 3,
1941, she was the daughter of the late Robert Ansley. A homemaker, Mrs. Lanier
loved to garden and listen to music. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her special friend, E.C. Bates of Barnesville; daughters, Mary
Abernathy of Helen, Janice Wood of Flowery Branch; sons, Scott Ansley of

Lattanzi, A.D. Joe
Piedmont College lost its No. 1 fan and one of its biggest
boosters Tuesday with the death of A.D. Joe Lattanzi,
following a brief illness. Lattanzi, 72, lived in Smyrna, but
his heart was never far from the college where he played
baseball as a student and met his wife, Peggy (Oliver). Joe,
as he was universally known, was president of the Piedmont
Letter Club and a former president of the Alumni Association.
He was inducted into the Piedmont Athletic Hall of Fame in
1981, and in 1990 he received the colleges Alumni Service
Award. A Bronx, N.Y., native, Lattanzi was employed by the
Cobb County Board of Education for 31 years at Campbell High
School as an American history teacher, a coach and assistant
principal. The Campbell baseball field recently was named in
his honor. A scout for professional baseball teams, Lattanzi
was a Navy veteran and a court bailiff for the Cobb County
Court System. He was a member of the National Rifle
Association, Smyrna American Legion Post No. 160, VFW Post No.
2681 in Marietta, Smyrna Golden K Club, and Smyrna First
United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife; three
sons, Joseph Dante Lattanzi of Smyrna, Ricci Oliver Lattanzi
of Rome and Anthony Adair Lattanzi of Lula; one daughter, Gina
Elvira Lattanzi of Germantown, Tenn.; one sister, Clara King
of Calhoun; and seven grandchildren. Memorials may be made to

Lawrence, Howard ‘Gray’
Funeral services for Howard “Gray” Lawrence, 58, of Baldwin were held at
3:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, at Damascus Baptist Church. The Rev. Gene Todd
officiated, with burial in the church cemetery. Mr. Lawrence died
Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, at Habersham County Medical Center. Born in
Banks County on July 1, 1944, he was the son of the late Bush and Dora Ausburn
Lawrence. He was preceded in death by his brothers, James Lawrence, Pete
Lawrence and Rudolph Ausburn. Mr. Lawrence was a former subcontractor with
Gwinnett County and was a cattle farmer. He was a member of Damascus Baptist

daughter, Christy Lawrence of Baldwin; son and daughter-in-law, Stanley Gray and

Long, Capt. Larry
Funeral services for Capt. Larry Long, 44, of Baldwin were
held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, at Level Grove Baptist Church.
The Rev. Terry Rice and Chaplain Pat Duran officiated with
burial in Yonah Memorial Gardens. Mr. Long died Friday, Aug.
9, 2002, at St. Josephs Hospital in Atlanta following a brief
illness. Born in Stephens County on Nov. 9, 1957, he was a
1976 graduate of Habersham Central High School. He was a
member of Level Grove Baptist Church, Cornelia Lodge No. 92
F&AM, the Mountaineer Shrine Club and Yaraab Temple in
Atlanta. He was captain in charge of jail and road patrol with
the Banks County Sheriffs Department with seven years of
service. Mr. Long was preceded in death by his father, C.R.
Long. Survivors include his wife, Kathy McEntire Long of
Baldwin; mother and stepfather, Faye Newsome Long and Vermon
Wright of Cornelia; daughter, Mary Long of Commerce; son,

TRILBY, Fla. – Funeral services for Mrs. Donnie Benfield Lovell, 90, of
Trilby, Fla., formerly of Clarkesville, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan.
16, at Hillside Memorial Chapel in Clarkesville. The Rev. Michael Rogers will
officiate with burial following in the Flat Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in
Rabun County. Mrs. Lovell died Friday, Jan. 10, 2003, at a private nursing
home in Zephyrhills, Fla., following an extended illness. Born on Dec. 3,
1912, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bright Lovell. Survivors

Funeral services for Jewell Pruitt Maney Jr., 62, of

Funeral services for Phillip Grant Marcus, 34, of Clayton

Martin, Ethelene Tomlin
Funeral services for Ethelene Tomlin Martin, 82, of Lula were held at 2 p.m.

Barnes officiated at graveside. Mrs. Martin died Sunday, June 22, 2003, at her

Funeral services for Gertrude Williams Mattox, 88, of Cornelia were held at

Born in Columbus on Dec. 24, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Nettie and
Dave Williams. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Pope Mattox.
Mrs. Mattox was a member of Israel C.M.E. Church. Survivors include her
daughters, Lattrella Scott, Charlie Mae Banks and Jean Gober, all of Cornelia,
Sally Brown and Peggy Burgess, both of Alto; son, George W. Mattox; 13

great-grandchild. Mr. Mauldin served in the National Guard and was retired from
Schnadig Corporation with 30 years of service. He was a member of New Birth

Funeral services for Martha Duncan Meaders, 57, of Alto will be held at 2

Funeral services for Willie Mae Harris Moore, 85, of Toccoa were held June

cemetery. Mrs. Moore died Thursday, June 13, 2002, at Stephens County Hospital
following an extended illness. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Bessie
Harris of Mt. Airy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Moore; son,

Graveside services for E. O. Dr. Mac McCleskey, 99, of Clarkesville,
formerly of Atlanta, were held at 3 p.m., Sunday, June 30, at Crestlawn Memorial
Park. The Rev. Lendell Ainsworth officiated. Dr. McCleskey died Friday, June 28,
2002. A retired pharmacist, Dr. McCleskey owned and operated the Hemphill Ave.
Pharmacy from 1925 to 1980. He was a 50-year member of the Georgia
Pharmaceutical Association Honor Club, a 50-year member of the John Rosier
Masonic Lodge and received a Certificate of Award from Mercer University for
outstanding service in the field of pharmacy for 55 years. He was preceded in
death by wives, Grace Light McCleskey and Cleva P. McCleskey. Survivors include
his daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Dan Knight of Clarkesville; son and
daughter-in-law, Gayle and Marianna McCleskey of Alpharetta; seven
grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Memorials may

Mrs. Mary McIntire dies in Gainesville - Mrs. Mary McIntire, aged 84, died at
Gainesville on last Sunday, April 1, 1923. Her body was brought here last
Monday and buried at Bethlehem Baptist Church, where she had been a member for
the past fifty four years. Mrs. McIntire was Miss Mary Gastley before marriage
and a sister to Mr. T.J. Gastley and moved to this country from Germany with her
parents at the age of seven years and like her brother and other relatives when
she reached her adopted country she became a true and loyal American. She
was a (good) woman and highly respected by all. She leaves nine children

Wilkins; and brother, Bernice Nix. Mr. Nix was a U.S. Army
World War II veteran and was a member of Toccoa VFW Post
#4346. He was manager of Sherwin-Williams Paint Store in
Toccoa for 17 years, and retired after 17 years service as
manager of the paint department of Stovall Building Supplies
in Toccoa. He was a member of Hillside Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Chambers Nix of Cornelia;
daughter, Angela Pate of Cornelia; sons, Ray Nix of Toccoa,

daughter, Jane Gaillard; son, Tommy Dunagan; and sister, Marie Chapman. Mrs.
Ohland was employed for 46 years as a seamstress with Carwood Manufacturing
