Forwarded to Rock Island, Illinois, prison, June 22, 1864, where he was confined until released October 13, 1864, to join U. S. Forces. Enlisted as a Private in Co. A, 3rd Regiment U. S. Volunteers, October 13, 1864. Deserted October 27, 1865. Never returned to command although it remained in service until November 29, 1865.
