Legion, Habersham Rifles. Three of his brothers survived the war
and returned home. David enlisted 7/1/1862 and died 11/3/1862
from pneumonia in the Mt. Jackson Confederate Hospital. The
hospital was located across the road from Our Soldiers Cemetery
where David is buried. The plaque on the monument at Our Soldiers
Cemetery shows his death date as Jan 4, 1862; however, this date
is incorrect and should be 11/4/1862 according to Civil War
records. Caroline Loudermilk drew David's confederate pension in
Habersham County.
