PARSONS, BUCKNER

I am researching the PARSONS family of Gordon County. Holden Russell Parsons moved to Gordon County around 1800 (from Blount County TN). He had many sons and daughters (one was NEWTON A. PARSONS, a circuit riding Methodist preacher). Holden had another son, JAMES R. PARSONS who married OLLIE C. BUCKNER in Resaca on March 2, 1881. They had many children. I am especially interested in their son, ALVIN C. PARSONS. Any information on any of these people would really, really be appreciated.

I'm looking for any informtion on B. B. Touchstone and his family. He was born in Ga. in 1812 and married Elizabeth Mobley. They had 2 children that I know of: BB Jr. and Mary Ann. GORDON, GRAY

I would like to know where Gordon County got the Gordon name. I am looking for the parents of my g-g-grandfather, George Alexander Gordon, who was born in Georgia in 1822. He married Mary (or Margaret) Adeline Gray of Tennessee about 1843. We do not know where they were married. This family was in Scott County, MS in 1850; the wife died in 1856 and the husband and two children moved to Texas.

DAWSON, NICHOLS

Searching for information on Amanda. M. DAWSON b.abt Dec. 15, 1824. Married Jackson NICHOLS b.Feb 15, 1812 from N. or S. Carolina. First child, Mary, b.Sept 30, 1843. 1850 census puts them in Gordon Co. with 6 children Mary, Melvin (Malvin?),Martha J., Wesley H.,Wiett (Wyatt)?), & Elizabeth M. Two more children William M. & Eliza Ann were born in Ga.They would have left Ga. about 1854 or 1855. A son, John Dow, was born in Mo. and a last child James Jackson born in Ca. 1858. Family stories say the NICHOLS family ran a saw mill. Mary does not appear as arriving in Ca. with her family. Hope someone out there can help me.

Looking for information on the family of Newman COOK and Minnie HOLMES who were married 5 Dec 1909 in Gordon County, Georgia. They are living in Gordon County, GA on 1910 census, sharing house with Newman's brother David COOK and his family. I lose Newman and Minnie after that. David and his family moved to Ft. Payne, DeKalb County, AL area, what happened to Newman? Newman was the son of George Washington and Jane Dryman Cook. Who were Minnie's parents? Hoping to share information.

Seeking information of any kind on the following: James Murdock who enlisted in the civil war from either Bartow or Paulding Counties. He died in 1863 during service. Our family is seeking information on Callier Shaw who was born between 1825 and 1830 in Georgia. He married Susan Barnett in Cass/Bartow County on August 11, 1843. In the 1850 census he was in Cass County; in the 1860 census he was in Gordon County. We have no record of him after the 1860 census. Josephine was the daughter of James CANTRELL and Elizabeth PATTERSON. Basil and Josephine were the parents of Adaline HYMER, born abt 1846 in GORDON CO., GA and Samuel Christian HYMER, born 14 Dec 1848 in GORDON CO., GA. and died 2 Jun 1931 in Okemah, Okfuskee Co., OK. Family stories is that Samuel was a Cherokee Indian, adopted by Basil and Josephine. Are there records of the adoptions of these Indians? Basil and Josephine moved their family to Hooks, Bowie Co., TX. sometime just after 1860. Basil was a government surveyor and was killed by indians while surveying near St. Joe, Montague Co., Texas about 1864-65. Josephine remarried in 1865 to William Andrew Eggenberger in Bowie Co., Texas. Would also like to find some information on Josephine CANTRELL's mother, Elizabeth PATTERSON, born 1809 in SC. died before 1860 in Lumpkin Co., GA. I have information on James CANTRELL lineage back to Richard CANTRELL, the first documented CANTRELL in America. I will share information.

WILSON, MOSS I am searching for information on the family of Thomas W. WILSON. Thomas was the son of Mitchell Alexander WILSON and was born in Yancey County, NC, in February 1848. He married Louisa P. MOSS (born Aug. 1852), the daughter of Benjamin J. and Elizabeth C. MOSS, in Yancey County. The couple was living in Yancey County in 1870, moved to Dawson County, GA by 1880, Union County by 1900, and last appears in Gordon County in the 1910 census. Their children include Belle (1885), Cora L. (1886), Charles J. (1889), Jeannie A. (1892), Luther G. (1896), and Robert L. (1899). Son Luther G. WILSON appears in the 1920 Gordon County census with wife Ida A. and daughter Mary L. Any help on this family will be greatly appreciated.

Looking for info on John C HEAD(b1819 GA) married Elizabeth E STANTON (b1820 SC)in Murray Co, GA 25 Mar 1841. John C HEAD's father was John HEAD of English descent from NC died in GA. Mother possibly Annie b 1792. Elizabeth E STANTON's father was John STANTON of Scottish descent born in SC, lived in TN, died in GA. Believe him to be the John STANTON (son of Christopher STANTON with GORDON CO connection) that married Elizabeth DOUTHIT. They had daughter "Ellen" that married a John C HEAD. Any info would be appreciated.

I am searching for Richmond DAWSON born 1826 in NC. Firstborn to Richmond and wife Eliza J. ? was James M. DAWSON in 1849 somewhere in GA, possibly Gordon Co. Richmond, his brother William DAWSON, his father James DAWSON along with Eliza J. ? apparently arrived in Carter Co MO. after the 1850 census. Possible migration route is NC>GA>TN or KY>MO. Richmond's descendants remained in Carter Co. MO for over 100 years.
