I am looking for information on the parents and grandparents of William Henderson Hales. He was born in Hall county GA. on May 7, 1820. I think he moved to Pickins County Ga. around 1840. He was married to Nancy McCrary about 1840. He had five childern as follows: Mart Hales of Cedartown, GA., Mary Medlin of Ohatchee, Ala., Martha Medlin of Steele Ala., Julia Rogers of Jasper Ga., Lou Tillery of Ludville GA. we are looking for info on my grandfather,s family.He was John Henry W.Nix, He was born to James E,Nix and wife Nancy ? and was shown on the Cherokee Co.census of 1860 along with a brother ,William Francis Green Nix as being 2 years old. We know he married Martha Amanda Pruitt in Cleburne Co in 1885 and they were in Gordon Co.ga in 1886.They had a daughter,Fannie ,born there in 1886. Then John Henry was born there in 1889 and they had Rosie in 1893.Then nothing else is known about them except they must have died in the late 1890,s because the children were listed as orphans living with other families on the 1900 fed census any help appreciated Betty Nix Crocker CHER4174 @aol.com

From what I've learned by the family, this person was killed in Chattooga County when the hand railroad car he was on was struck by a train. I am looking for any information about my GG grandfather John PACK. He lived from 7/16/1839 - 11/14/1912. He was buried at Bethel Christian Church cemetary, in Pickens Co., GA. I don't know his wife's name, although I do know she was a full blooded Cherokee Indian. The only child I know of is my great grandfather John H. PACK (1/5/1865 - 9/23/1923), who moved to where I'm from in Marshall Co. Alabama.

Seeking info on John Christianberry BRUSTER/ BREWSTER, b ca 1820 who m in 1844 in Murray Co to Mary J McSPADDEN, b ca 1827 in Va. They lived in Gordon Co in 1850 and Whitfield Co in 1860. John may have been killed in a Civil War battle in early 1864 near his homeplace. In 1870, Mary lived in Murray Co and in 1880 in Floyd Co. Seeking information of any kind on the following: James Murdock who enlisted in the civil war from either Bartow or Paulding Counties. He died in 1863 during service. He had a son James, Samuel, and d. Victoria. What happened to these children? Wife unk. James Jr., supposed to have been raised by Hamilton family, perhaps in MO. It is also possible the James Jr.'s fa. was not really named James. Believe however, he is James B. (Barr or Barry) Murdock.

Researching William Townsend (B- 1809) married Avarilla ??. Both are buried in the White Cem. off Pin Hook Rd. on private property belonging to Amee Lacey. I would like to know maiden name of wife. They had several children: William Henry Townsend (my G-grandfather), Jackson, Sarah, Dozier L., James, John C., Susan, Elizabeth, and a second James C. Townsend. I am very interested in any info on either James, Susan or Dozier, and their mother Avarilla. The Green family I am researching is Lewyllen Green and his desc from Gordon Co. Tyring to find information on Caleb E. King and wife Ellen McAllister, left North Carolina about 1866 moved to Gordon County,GA. and resided there until 1888, then moved to Dallas, Tex. Had 8 children in 1860, Henrietta, Charles, Ferdinand, William E., Laura, Joshua, and Ellan E. Possibly had more childern in Gordon County, I don't if Henrietta moved with him or she stayed in NC. She married in 1874 to James Ledbetter in Rutherford County,NC. Ferdinand was a doctor in 1888 living in New York City. Caleb was a doctor, although he may have not practiced medicine in Gordon County, the information I have is that he was farming there. He also had a law degree. He also had a brother Jonathan J. King who settled in Floyd County,Ga, near Rome,Ga. another brother Samuel T. King who was in Gordon County,Ga. until 1862. His wife died there and he moved back to NC. Our family is seeking information on Callier Shaw who was born between 1825 and 1830 in Georgia. He married Susan Barnett in Cass/Bartow County on August 11, 1843. In the 1850 census he was in Cass County; in the 1860 census he was in Gordon County. We have no record of him after the 1860 census. We have checked the Civil War Military and Salt records to no avail. His son Charles M. Shaw (our great grandfather) came to Texas prior to 1876. I am seeking information on Basil W. HYMER, born abt. 1820-24 in NC., married abt. 1845 in Calhoun, GORDON CO., GA. to Josephine CANTRELL, born 12 Mar 1825, died 16 Jun 1900 at Hooks, Bowie Co., TX. Josephine was the daughter of James CANTRELL and Elizabeth PATTERSON. Basil and Josephine were the parents of Adaline HYMER, born abt 1846 in GORDON CO., GA and Samuel Christian HYMER, born 14 Dec 1848 in GORDON CO., GA. and died 2 Jun 1931 in Okemah, Okfuskee Co., OK. Family stories is that Samuel was a Cherokee Indian, adopted by Basil and Josephine. Are there records of the adoptions of these Indians? Basil and Josephine moved their family to Hooks, Bowie Co., TX. sometime just after 1860. Basil was a government surveyor and was killed by indians while surveying near St. Joe, Montague Co., Texas about 1864-65. Josephine remarried in 1865 to William Andrew Eggenberger in Bowie Co., Texas. Would also like to find some information on Josephine CANTRELL's mother, Elizabeth PATTERSON, born 1809 in SC. died before 1860 in Lumpkin Co., GA. I have information on James CANTRELL lineage back to Richard CANTRELL, the first documented CANTRELL in America. I will share information.

WILSON, MOSS I am searching for information on the family of Thomas W. WILSON. Thomas was the son of Mitchell Alexander WILSON and was born in Yancey County, NC, in February 1848. He married Louisa P. MOSS (born Aug. 1852), the daughter of Benjamin J. and Elizabeth C. MOSS, in Yancey County. The couple was living in Yancey County in 1870, moved to Dawson County, GA by 1880, Union County by 1900, and last appears in Gordon County in the 1910 census. I am searching for Richmond DAWSON born 1826 in NC. Firstborn to Richmond and wife Eliza J. ? was James M. DAWSON in 1849 somewhere in GA, possibly Gordon Co. Richmond, his brother William DAWSON, his father James DAWSON along with Eliza J. ? apparently arrived in Carter Co MO. after the 1850 census. Possible migration route is NC>GA>TN or KY>MO. Richmond's descendants remained in Carter Co. MO for over 100 years.
