Calvin Isaac PITTS b. 1808 South Carolina and wife Milly b. 1808 South Caroina and d. 1889 Calhoun, Gordon, Georgia. Their children: Newton b. 1832 SC, Williaim b. 1834 SC, Henry Teague b. 15 Nov 1835 SC, Jame H. b. 1838 SC, Jasper b. 1842 SC, Geroge, b. 1844 SC and Virgil Homer PITTS b. 7 Oct 1847/8 in GORDON Co. , GA. Calvin Isaac owned a cotton plantation of 160 acres between Calhoun and Sugar Valley incuding some 50 slaves. When the CW erupted several brothers enlisted in the confederacy. Virgil enlisted in 1864 in Comapny K, Regiment 19, GA Volunteers. Following the war, the family lost its wealth, except for a box of buried gold which the boys used to go west to Arkansas. On behalf of my offline mother, I am looking for any information on ADAMS in the area of Spring Place, Georgia, from before 1861 to c1895. We are researching the line of Rev. James A. ADAMS who married Malinda CANON through their son Rufus Barker ADAMS, aka Sam. James was buried in Oldman, Gordon County, and we feel that the family tended to be spread out along the border of Gordon and Murray Counties. I am trying to locate anyone that is researching the PETTEJOHN line. I have a Nancy Annie ______- PETTEJOHN (b. Jan. 15, 1846 in Gorden Co., GA.) that was married to my g.g.grandfather, Marmaduke Anthony THOMPSON (b. Aug. 15, 1846 Guilford Co., NC). Nancy was first married to Tom PETTEJOHN and my records show that he was killed during an argument at a family gathering. It is unknown to me if there were any children from the PETTEJOHN marriage. I am looking for the parents of Hannah Longstreet BLACKSTONE who was born in November 1833 near Atlanta, Georgia. She was shown on the 1850 GORDON County, Georgia census with Richard BLACKSTONE and her siblings Richard, Tabitha and William. I think Hannah's mother died about 1844/1850 probably in Gordon County. I'm looking for some record of Balus Green, living first in Forsyth County and then in Gordon County. I believe he was in Forsyth County in 1845 (because his son, Samuel Balus Green was born there), and he may have lived in Gordon County later (because his son was married there in 1867). I have been told he was a scout on the Trail of Tears. Specifically, I'm trying to find out when he came to Georgia (from North Carolina), whom he married, and when and where he died.

Looking for anyone with connections to Allen Powell in Cherokee Co, GA. Allen came from Pickens Co, SC in 1841 and was married to an S. Garrett in 1842. He remarried to Easter Bennett in Forsyth Co, GA in 1847. They were listed on the 1850 census in Cherokee Co. He was listed on the census in Gordon Co, GA in 1860 and 1870. In 1874 the Powell family went Crawford Co, AR. I would love to hear from anyone with connections to Allen or any Powells in Cherokee, Forsyth, or Gordon counties.

I would like info on the SUTHERLAND family who came to Pickens Co.from N.C. George and Lois Sutherland came to Ga. with sons Major,Caswell,and daughters Orphay Ann and Jane who never married. Some of these people I think went back to N.C., some went to S.C. If any one could help me with these I would apperciate it.
