Thomas Munroe Montgomery
On last Friday while two
little sons of one of the esteemed citizens of our county, Mr.
William Montgomery, aged respectively about 15 and 17 yrs.
old, were in the field ploughing, they started for home to
escape a threatened rain storm. The mule upon which the eldest
(Thomas Munroe) was mounted became frightened for some cause,
throwing young Montgomery, and his foot became entangled in
the gear, he was dragged a considerable distance, his body
horribly mangled, and when the younger brother came upon him,
disentangled the mangled body, life was found to be extinct.
