JOHN HENRY WELLS

John Henry Wells  -  Born in Georgia in 1847.  Married Louisa Elizabeth Painter August 23, 1874 in Gilmer Co.  Died 1908.  Buried at Nine Mile Church Cemetery.

Louisa Elizabeth (Painter) Wells  -  Wife of John Henry.  Born in 1848, she was the daughter of James Madison Painter of Buncombe Co. NC.  Her mother, whose maiden name was Robinson, was originally from Pennsylvania.  Died February 19, 1934. Buried at Nine Mile Church Cemetery.

Children

James Robert  -  Born in Gilmer Co. July 15, 1875.  Married Nora Parks November 19, 1905.  Had nine children, one girl and eight boys.  Died July 25, 1948.  Wife Nora died May 23, 1961.  Both buried at Nine Mile Church Cemetery.

Wilborn  -  Born October 4, 1877.  He never married.  Died June 15, 1934.  Buried at Nine Mile Church Cemetery.

William Pink  -  Born ca. 1879.  Served as a Notary Public and Bailiff in the Mountaintown community.  He never married.  Died ca. 1942.  Buried at Nine Mile Church Cemetery.

[Note:  John Henry’s older brother Thomas and Louisa’s brother Marion both served in Co. “F” 60th Georgia Infantry Regiment during the Civil War.  Both were captured by Union forces May 6, 1864 at the Battle of The Wilderness in Virginia.  They survived their imprisonment and both returned to Gilmer Co. following the war.]
