"E.C. Wright, 75, Dies; Services To Be Tomorrow" (from the heading of the obituary on Tues. 6/29/1948)

Edgar Clarence Wright, 75, died Monday at 6:55 pm in a local hospital following a lengthy illness. Mr. Wright traveled for the Eagle Stove Works for 17 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was married to Dora Belle Dabbs, December 26, 1914, in Chattanooga. He was previously married to Estelle Hudson, who preceded him in death in 1912. Surviving, besides his widow, is one daughter Mrs. T. P. (Inez) Moore of Seaford, Delaware. Four grandchildren, Mildred Moore Roberts, Thomas Moore, Jr., Virginia Moore, and Juanita Moore also survive. Also surviving is one great-grandchild, David Moore. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 10 am from the Chapel of Daniel and Son with Dr. Bunyan Stephens in charge. Interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Hix Sims, John Yarborough, James Tilly, Howard Ellis, J. J. Arp, John L. Couch, Alvin Maynor and A. L. Barron. The body will lie in state at the residence, 541 South Broad Street, until time for the services."
