W. H. Wilson, 77, Passes Monday
William Henry (Bud) Wilson, 77, passed away at the residence of his daughter,
Mrs. J. D. Yarbrough, 502 North Third Avenue, at 8:45 o'clock Monday night. He had
been in declining health for seveal years, but his condition had not become serious
until four weeks ago.
Born in Rome, July 16, 1868, son of the late William H. and Mary Poe Wilson, he
had spent his entire life in Rome and Floyd County. He was a well-known farmer and
had been a member of the Armuchee Methodist Church since early manhood. He was
preceded in death by his wife, the former Miss Beulah King, February 4, 1944.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. J. D. Yarbrough and Miss Jewell Wilson,
of Rome, and Mrs. Guy Davis of Cohutta; three sons, Lester and W.J. Wilson of Rome
and Uclaugh Wilson of Silver Creek, Route 1; one brother, J. G. Wilson, Key, Ala.,
eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4 o'clock Wednesday afternoon from the
Sand Springs Baptist Church, with the Rev. J.R. Baxter and the Rev. Guy Johnson
officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery.
The remains will lie in state at the residence until time for the services and
pallbearers are requested to meet there at 2:30 o'clock. They include W.S. Evans,
B.G. Owens, Marvin Scoggins, Hudson Davis, Mack Tudor and Hoyt Hicks.
