M. R. Wilkens Dies; Services Set Monday
Marion Roberts Wilkins, 79, died Saturday morning at his residence in Lindale following an illness of three weeks.
He was born in Pickens County June 14, 1886, son of the late Jack and Martha Poole Wilkins. Having spent the greater part of his life in Floyd County,
Mrs. Wilkins was a retired employee of Pepperell Manufacturing Company and a member of Reynolds Chapel Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, the former Alice Robinson Wilkins to whom he was married Nov. 11, 1928; five daughters, Mrs. Mildred Tidwell of Lindale, Mrs.
Katherine Morales of Chicago, Mrs. Joyce Hawks of Carrolton, Mrs. Jessie Mae Wolf of Knoxville, Tenn. and Mrs. Loretta Wilkinson of California; three sons,
Curtis Wilkins of Chicago, Marion Wilkins of Carrollton and Larry Wilkins of Lindale; two sisters, Mrs. Katie Davenport of Rome and Mrs. Lencie Cochran of
Alabama City, Ala; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 4 p.m. at Park Avenue Baptist Church in Lindale with the Rev. Johnny Boatner, the Rev. Glen Boatner and the Rev.
J. Harold Reynolds officiating. Interment will be in East View Cemetery.
The body will lie in state at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Mildred Tidwell of Lindale Rte 1 until time for the services.
Henderson-Frazier Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
