Mrs. Vaughan Succumbs Today
Mrs. J. I. Vaughan, beloved citizen of Silver Creek, Route 1, passed away Wednesday morning at 8:45 o'clock at a local hospital, after a brief illness
although she had been in declining health for several months. Mrs. Vaughan was born in Bartow County, December 5, 1861, but had been living in Floyd County
for the last 34 years. She was a devout Christian and had been a member of Spring Creek Baptist Church for many years. She was the widow of the late J.I.
Vaughan, who preceeded her in death June 16, 1931.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 4 o'clock from the Spring Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Gordon Ezell officiating, assisted by the
Rev. J. Ed Smith. Interment will be in the family lot in Wax Cemetery.
Surviving Mrs. Vaughan are three sons, S.L. Vaughan, of Rome; H.B. Vaughan of Jacksonville, Fla., and H. H. Vaughan of Silver Creek, Route 1; three
daughters, Mrs. A.A. Barrett and Mrs. George Alford of Silver Creek and Mrs. D.F. Ellis of Rome, Route 4, two sisters, Mrs. A.T. Quinn, of Moultrie, GA and
Mrs. R.C. Carpenter, of Atlanta.
The following friends will serve as pallbearers: Joe Kennedy, W. D. Horton, Fred Snell, B.H. Ayer, W. B. Mathis and Howard Ellis.
