Jesse H. Sweatt Succumbs Monday; Rites Wednesday

Jesse H. Sweatt, 49, Ash St. Celanese, died in a Rome hospital at 5:35 p.m. Monday following several weeks illness.

Mr. Sweat was born in Etowah County, Ala., Feb. 22, 1909, son of Lee Sweatt and the late Beulah Dees Sweatt, but had been a resident of Rome since 1937. He had been an employee of Celanese Corp. for the past 11 years and was a member of the Celanese Baptist Church., Cherokee Lodge F&AM and the Royal Arch Lodge of Rome.

Survivors include the widow, the former Miss Maude Langston, to whom he was married August 28, 1937; one daughter Mona Phyliss Sweatt, Rome, father Lee Sweatt, Webster Chapel, Ala.; five brothers, Mathew, of Lindale, Milford and Eugene B. of Webster Chapel, Ala., Clifford , of Sun Valley, Calif. and Houston Sweatt, of Jacksonville, Ala.; three sisters, Mrs. Essie Moore, Mrs.

Iva Lee Maxwell, both of Webster Chapel, Ala., and Mrs. Bessie Kelly, of Anniston, Ala.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Celanese Baptist Church with the pastor, the Rev. W. L. Selman and the Rev. Larry Bauman, pastor of the Celanese Methodist Church officiating.

Interment will be in State Line Cemetery, Rome, Rt. 3. Cherokee Lodge F&AM will have charge of the graveside rites. The body will lie in state at Jennings Funeral Home and the family will receive friends there from 7 until 9 o'clock tonight. The body will be removed to the church Wednesday to lie in state from 2:30 p.m. until the funeral hour.

Active pallbearers will include J. W. Haigwood, Claude Hester, Reece Bowen, Gordon Dunaway, E. E. Ringer and Roy Hart. Honorary pallbearers will include members of the Men's Bible Class, Celanese Baptist Church.
