Mrs. Nora Rockett Stevens, beloved citizen of Floyd County died (March 13, 1940) at her residence on East Eighth street this morning. She had been in declining health for several months, but her death was unexpected and comes as a great shock to her many friends and family throughout the entire county.

She was born in Rome on November 14, 1899, and had spent her entire life here. She was the daughter of Mrs. Minnie Rockett and the late Alfred M. Rockett, who preceded her in death several years ago. She received her education in the Rome public schools. Mrs. Stevens was a devoted and loved Christian, a member of the Maple Street Baptist church for many years.

Surviving her are her husband Luther H. Stevens, one daughter, Miss LeEllen Stevens; her mother, Mrs. A. M. Rockett, all of Rome; two brothers, John Rockett, of New Orleans, and Henry Rockett, of Rome. Several aunts and uncles also survive.

Funeral services will probably be conducted Friday from the Maple Street Baptist Church pending the arrival of her brother from New Orleans, with the Rev. O. E. Rutland officiating, assisted by the Rev. J. B. Gresham. The interment will be in Myrtle Hill cemetery.

The following friends will serve as pallbearers; Paul Scoggins, J. T. Verner, E. C. Murdock, Ross Cormany, Charles E. Bradfield and W. C. Smith.
