Mrs. Michael Ledford Stager, 69, of Lindale Rte. 1 died Monday at 2 p.m. in a Rome hospital after a long illness.
Mrs. Stager was a native of Gilmer Co., but had spent the greater part of her life here. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Richard C. Ledford. Her husband, J.D. (Dave) Stager, died in 1963.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. W.B. Justice of Lindale; five sons, L.C. Stager, of Rome, Rev. J. L. Stager of Menlo, R.C., H.F. and L. G. Stager, all of Lindale; one sister, Mrs. Besse Hines, of Garden Grove, Calif. 22 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the New Bethel Methodist Church with the Revs. Bobby Stephens and John Mathis officiating. Interment will follow in the New Bethel Cemetery.
Pallbearers include C.O. Green, Elzo Bradshaw, J.W. Trotter, Don Duke, W.L. (Bill) Rogers, and Claude Martin.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m. At other hours they will be at the residence of a son, R.C. Stager, 103 Hopper St., in Gaitherpark.
