Mr. Ernest James Roberts, Sr., age 76, of Silver Creek, passed away Friday, December 19, 1997 at his residence. Mr. Roberts was born January 1, 1921 in Fulton County. He was a World War II Veteran and retired from Lindale Laundry. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest E. Roberts and Sarah MacDonald Roberts. Survivors include wife, Myrtle Hardin Roberts, Silver Creek, son, Ernest J. Roberts, Jr., Silver Creek, daughters, Nannette Beall, Silver Creek, Deborah Millican, Menlow, Ga., sisters, Edna Watson, Rome, Geraldine East, Cedartown, brothers, Charles Jack Roberts, Portland, Oregon, 5 grandsons and 1 great grandchild. Funeral services for Mr. Roberts were conducted Sunday, December 21, 1997 at 2:00 p.m., from the chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with Rev. Wesley Forrester officiating. The interment followed in Northview Cemetery. The family received friends Saturday, December 10, 1997 from 7:00 p.m., until 9:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Pallbearers were grandsons, Bradley Beall, Jason Beall, Aaron Millican, Matthew Sweat, Jr., James Roberts III and Alex Hosmer. Gammage Funeral Home of Cedartown was in charge of the arrangements.
