Andrew Thomas Reed, 72 of 8211 New Calhoun Highway, the Shannon Community, died Monday, January 18, 1999, at his residence.
Mr Reed was born in Gordon county on July 25, 1926, son of the late David Grady Reed and Bessie Irene Edwards Reed. He was a member of
Enon Baptist Church, Plainville Masonic Lodge No.364, F&AM and the Royal Arch Masons, a U.S. Navy veteran serving during World War II, and
prior to retirement, was employed at Union Carbide Co.
Survivors include his widow, Florine Cochran Reed, to whom he was married on Feb.5. 1944; one son, Thomas Reed, Cartersville; four
daughters, Donna Benson and Sharon Gollahon, both of Shannon, Janet Meador, Plainville, and Tammy Stanell, Rome; one brother, Earnest Alford
Reed, Rome; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 pm, at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel Funeral Home, with the Rev. Hoyt Coker and Dr. William
Landers officiating. Interment will be at New Hope Baptist Church Cemertry, Rosedale, Georgia.
