Mr. Melvin Seals Packer, age 56, of Rome, passed away Friday, September 25, 1998 at his residence. Mr. Packer was born July 11, 1942 in Polk County and was an Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his mother, Daisy Miller Packer. Survivors include his father, Archie E. Packer of Cedartown; a daughter, Barbara Packer Barnes of Aragon� two sons, Thomas D. Packer of Lindale and Mike L. Packer of Cedartown; a granddaughter, Kaitlyn Barnes of Aragon; two sisters, Bernice Crowe of Rome and Brenda Burns of Cedartown; and a brother, Edward Packer of Cave Springs. Graveside services were held Monday, September 28, from Polk Memory Gardens with Chaplain Captain Keith Dempsey officiating. Interment followed. Pallbearers included Ronnie Forsyth, Wayne Forsyth, Buddy Corn, Dennis Alexander, Roy Lewis and Stanley Jones.
