Guy R. Owens Dies Suddenly; Rites Wednesday
Guy R. Owens, 57, of 105 East Main Street, died suddenly Monday at 3:55 p.m. following a heart attack suffered at the residence.
Mr. Owens was born in Taylorsville, July 13, 1893, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. H. M . Owens. He had been a resident of Rome for the past 28 years, and was employed by the Home Stores on East Main Street.
Surviving are the widow, the former Miss Tallie Fuqua, to whom he was married Nov. 22, 1914; three sons, Hoyt, Marvin H. and Clyde Owens; two daughters, Misses Beatrice and Gladys Owens; one grandchild, Hoyt Owens, Jr. , all of Rome.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. in Cross Roads Baptist Church near Taylorsville.
The Rev. Howard Holcomb will officate and interment will be in the adjoining cemetery.
The body will lie in state at the residence until time for funeral services.
Pallbearers will include George Stephens, Arnold Hill, Charlie Smith, J. A. Hand, O.J. Jackson and Mr. Blalock.
