RICHARD KING, 74, DIES AT HIS HOME WEDNESDAY NIGHT
Richard P. King, 74, died Wednesday night at his home on Spring street, after an illness of more than one year.
He was a respected carpenter, was born in Floyd County and lived here all his life. He was a faithful member of the North Rome Methodist church for 65 years.
He was twice married, and his first wife was Miss Mattie Flemister. Of this union two children survive; Mrs. A. F. Selman of Rome, and L. P. King of Tulsa Okla. His second wife, who was Miss Ann Lumpkin before her marriage, survives him, and the following children also survive: Mrs. Ben Pendelton, Nashville, Tenn.; Mrs. Buford Bentley, Esom Hill; Odessa, Richard, Robert, Horace and Smiley, all of Rome. Also surviving are the following siste and brother: Mrs. Ida Conkle, Lookout Mountain; Jeff, Lookout Mountain; Sam of Columbus; and Luke of Tuscaloosa, Ala. There are several surviving grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted from the North Rome Methodist church at 10:30 o'clock Friday morning, by the pastor, Rev. J. A. Patridge, assisted by Rev. O. E.Rutland, pastor of the North Rome Baptist church.
Interment will be in Oakland cemetery.
The following will act as pallbearers: Jack Carver, John McGinnis, John Burney, L. E. Ford, Perry Hicks, and L. A. Callahan.
