Mrs. Holt
Mrs. Myrie S. Holt, 62, 80 Rutledge Road, Coosa community, died Wednesday
morning at a Rome hospital after a long illness.
Mrs. Holt was born in Cartersville, June 7, 1923, daughter of the late
Everett Shelton and Nellie Brownlow Shelton. Prior to moving to Floyd County 17
years ago, she was a resident of Florida and Dalton. She was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Holt was preceded in death by her husand, Orville Vincent McDonald, April
30, 1968.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Glenda Castillo and Mrs. Vernell
Voyles, both of Rome; two sons, Ray McDonald, Green Cove Springs, Fla. and Steve
McDonald, Rome; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Robinson, Green Cove Springs, Fla.,
and Minnie Shelton, Dalton, a brother, Joseph Shelton, Dalton, 15
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Heritage Chapel of
Jennings Funeral Home with the Revs. Harley Reynolds and Frank Sharp officiating.
Interment will be at Oakland Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Ronnie Shelton, Jeff Shelton, Dale Adams, Larry Hunter,
Kenneth Shelton, James Umphrey, Emory Voyles and Benny Joe Robinson.
(Note: A notice by the funeral home in the same paper stated that she was preceded in death
by her mother, Jan. 7, 1986; she died Jan. 22)
