W. Hugh Hartley
William Hugh Hartley, 53, Donahoo Road; Silver Creek Rte. 1 died at 6 p.m. Saturday in a Rome Hospital following a short illness.
Mr. Hatley was born in Floyd County, Jan. 12, 1920, son of the late Julie Wofford Hartley and the late Giden Hartley.
He spent the greater part of his life in Rome and Floyd County. For the last five years he was employed at the Floyd County Correctional Institution as maintenance engineer.
He was a member of Collard Valley Baptist Church and a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, the former Hollis Wofford, to whom he was married in 1963; mother Mrs. Julie Hartley of Rome; a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in New Bethel Congregational Methodist Church, the Revs. Belton Deems and Frank Sharpe officiating.
Burial will be in Pleasant Hope Cemetery.
The body will lie in state at the residence. Pallbearers include J. L. Roberson, Gary and Larry Bowman, Frankie Hall, Ray Smith and D. L. Shields.
Jennings Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
