Death of John Sulivan Hartin

J. S. Hartin was born January 1, 1844 in Butler County, Alabama and died in Rome, Georgia, 9 January 1904, having lived in the world sixty years and nine days, and we are glad to say that his life was not in vain.
When sixteen years old, he joined the Confederate Army and for four years was a brave soldier. He was twice severely wounded, but never the less he kept in the fight until the close of the war between the States, and from the close of the war until the day of his death, he was a true and noble citizen.
He was twice married, his first wife was a Miss Lizzie Haze. His second wife was Mrs. M. E. Johnson. She and the children of the first wife still live and mourn because husband and father is not, but mourn not as those who mourn without hope.
J. S. Hartin was a man of God. He was converted in a meeting held by Sam P. Jones in 1888, and afterwards joined the M. E. Church, South, and was faithful to his vows until he was transferred to the Church above. The last words he said to his dear wife just before he went away were "Trust in God," some know where to find him.
