Maj. Forrest
Major Arthur A. Forrest, retired, 68, 208 Robin Hood Road, Sherwood
Forest, died at 10:45 a.m. Friday in a Rome hospital.
He was born June 19, 1915 in Floyd County, son of Fannie Belle Whetstone
Forrest and the late Ferdinand H. Forrest. He had spent most of his life in
Rome and Floyd County. He retired from the U.S. Army in 1963 after 23 years
service.
He was member of the Rome Elks Club, Veteran of Foreign Wars, Shanklin-
Attaway Post 5, American Legion and the Retired Officers Association.
Survivors include his widow, the former Clara Goldman, to whom he was
married Sept. 28, 1946, a brother, James M. (Billy) Forrest, Rome; two
sisters, Mrs. Thelma Starr, Silver Creek and Mrs. Louise Morgan, Winston Salem, N.C.;
mother, Mrs. F. H. Forrest, Rome, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. today at East View Cemetery
with the Rev. Gary Batchelor officiating. Full military honors will be conducted by
the military staff at Fort McPherson.
