John W. Duncan, 77 Dies in Hospital; Funeral is Saturday

John William Duncan, 77, affectionally known as "Bud" of 18 Elizabeth St. died unexpectedly in a Rome hospital at 1:50 p.m. Thursday. Mr. Duncan had been ill for the past week, following a fall suffered at his home.
Mr. Duncan was born in Rome August 28, 1880, son of the late John W. and Martha Cordle Duncan, members of a pioneer Floyd County family and had spent his entire life in Rome and Floyd County. Prior to retirement he was a well known carpenter.
Surviving are the widow, the former Miss Minnie Lee Ramsey, to whom he was married 1911, two daughters, Mrs. G. W. Alexander of Rome and Mrs. John Ballew, of Chattanooga, six grandchildren, three greatgrandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the chapel of Jennings Funeral Home with the Rev. W. C. Ruckti and the Rev. Roy Melton officiating.
Interment will follow in the family lot of Oaknoll Cemetery. Pallbearers include Robert Duke, A. P. Caldwell, J. C. Kerce, Kenneth Owens, Albert Tolbert and Eddie Burkhalter.
