Mrs. Kittie Nichols Dodd, 84, Cedartown Rte. 4, died Saturday at the residence of a daughter in Cedartown following an illness of several years.
Mrs. Dodd was born Nov. 19, 1892 in Bartow County, daughter of the late Andy Nichols and Mary Martin Nichols and had resided the greater part of her life in the Barnsley community, Bartow County. She moved to Cedartown eight years ago. She was a member of Connesena Baptist Church.
Survivors include her widower, James H. Dodd, Sr. to whom she was married in 1912; two sons, Hugh Dodd, Adairsville, and James H. Dodd, Jr. Kingston Rte. 1, two daughters, Mrs. Mary Manning, Adairsville Rte. 3, and Mrs. Margie Bell, Cedartown; two brothers, Roy Nichols and Sproull Nichols, both of Rome; two sisters, Mrs. Pauline Litton, Lindale, and Mrs. Lorene Luckett, Lindale, 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at Connesena Baptist Church with the Rev. Otis Pendley officating. Interment will in in East View Cemetery, Adairsville.
The body will be carried to the residence of a son, Hugh Dodd, Old 41 Highway, at 11 a.m. today to lie in state until 2 p.m. Monday when it will be carried to the church to lie in state until the funeral hour. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Barton-Jennings-Coulter Funeral Home, Adairsville has charge of arrangements.
