Paul Dunlap Davis Passes in Hospital; Funeral Set Thursday

Paul Dunlap Davis of Kingston, Rte. 1, died Tuesday at 5:25 p.m. in a Rome hospital following an attack suffered a month ago. He was born in Floyd County, son of the late George and Martha Buckanan Davis. Mr. Davis was well known in the lumber business in Rome, having retired in 1952 as Shop Foreman of the Smith-Evans Lumber Co. He was a member of the Second Avenue Methodist Church where he formerly served on the Board of Stewards. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Miss Ruby O'Bryant, in 1949 and by two brothers and one sister.
Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, the former Ruth Sufford Hardee to whom he was married on July 1, 1950, and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Daniel's Funeral Home with the Rev. Henry Norris officiating.
Interment will be in East View Cemetery.
Six cousins will serve as pallbearers, Jack and Tom Clark, Talmade, Raymond, Clarence and Ed Davis.
The body will lie in state at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 7 until 9 o'clock tonight.
