Mrs. Annie P. Davis
Mrs. Annie P. Davis, age 91, of 2404 Maple Road, Rome, died Saturday evening at her residence following a lengthy illness. A native of Floyd County, Mrs. Davis was born July 13, 1910, a daughter of the late Claude and Emma Terry Proctor. She spent her life in Rome and Floyd County and was employed by Champion Garments for over 29 years when she retired. A loving and devoted homemaker and mother, Mrs. Davis was a longtime member of the Hill Crest Baptist Church and the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. Her husband, Willie Frank Davis, Sr. to whom she was married on May 23, 1931, preceded her in death on March 30, 1981. Mrs. Davis is survived by her three daughters, Jackie Childers, Betty Jacobs and Lena Gore, all of Rome, her son and very special daughter-in-law, Bill and Ramell Davis of Marianna, Fla, 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, four great great grandchildren and a special nephew, Bobby Jones of Ft. Myers, Fla. Funeral services for Mrs. Davis will be on Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. at the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home with the Rev. Clyde Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot at Oostanaula United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Davis will lie in state at Heritage Chapel where the family will receive friends this evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friends may contact the family at the residence of the daughter, Jackie Childers, on Wade Street. Grandsons are asked to serve as pallbearers and include the following: Lee Gore, Barry Childers, Ronnie Jacobs, Crandell and Chris Almon, Russell Sims, Don Myers, Mike Gaston, Larry and Kevin Davis. Pallbearers should meet at the funeral home on Tuesday morning at 10:45 a.m. Funeral services for Annie P. Davis are under the direction of the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home.
