Mrs. Davenport
Funeral services for Mrs. Katie Elizabeth Wilkins Davenport will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at East Rome Baptist Church.
The Rev. Larry Davis and the Rev. Bobby Underwood will officiate. Interment will be at Spring Creek Cemetery.
Mrs. Davenport, 97, of 215 E. 14th St. died Tuesday morning at a Rome hospital after a long illness. She was born in Pickens County, April 22, 1893,
daughter of the late Elizabeth Poole Wilkins.
Before retirement, she was employed by Anchor Rome Mills. She was a member of the Damascus Baptist Church and a volunteer with the Salvation Army.
Mrs. Davenport was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Thomas Gilbert Davenport, March 15, 1946.
Survirors include: five daughters, Mrs. Cathryn Sutherland, Rome, Mrs. Mae Lane, Mrs. Alma Howard and Mrs. Maudine Davenport, all of Silver Creek, and
Mrs. Maggie Hicks, Atlanta, five sons, the Rev. Rayford Davenport, Tommy Davenport, Clarence Davenport and Raymond Davenport, all of Rome, and the Rev.
Harrison Davenport of Silver Creek; 32 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
