William Ward Bragg
William Ward Bragg, 224 Watters St. died Tuesday evening in a Rome hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Bragg was born in Gordon County on March 16,
1895, son of William and Cordie Bragg. He had spent the greater part of his life in Rome and Floyd County and prior to his retirement, had been associated
with the city of Rome for twenty-two years.
He was a member of Spring Creek Baptist Church. He was married to the former Miss Birdie Henderson.
Survivors include his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Bernice Goodwin, of Rome; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Walker Arnold, of Rome; a stepson, Howard Lowe, of
Rossville, Ga. one brother, Frank Bragg, of Piedmont, Ala; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday 2 p.m. in the chapel of Stevens-Davenport Funeral Home, Revs. John Crowe and Y. E. Graves officiating.
Interment will be in the family lot in East View Cemetery.
Active pallbearers include Virgil Bragg, J.M. Bragg, Stanley Bragg, Paul Ray,Wallace Cochran, and Ray Hulsey. An honorary escort will be composed of
employees of the City of Rome Works Department.
The body will remain at the funeral home where the family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. At other hours, they will be at the home of a
granddaughter, Mrs. Charlotte Broadaway, 320 Reynolds St. The Stevens-Davenport Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
