BETTERTON: I am researching a branch of the BETTERTON family who lived in Fayette County, Georgia from abfile:///C:/My Documents/My Webs/Copy of oldfayette/public_html/queries.htmout 1840-1870. Other members of this family spread out into Fulton, Clayton, Troup, and other Georgia Counties in the area. Any information about his family would really be appreciated. I am particularly interested in locating the burial site and fixing the death date of my 3rd Great Grandfather, Thomas Betterton (Circa 1750-Circa 1843) who lived in Clayton County, near Jonesboro. Please send all information to: Jerry Warren Betterton, Jbetterton@InfoAve.

I have ancestors of George Minick back to Thomas Minick b. ca 1707 Germany, arrived SC with family in 1752. Was ELIJAH MINIX, PVT., Co K, 45th GA Regt captured near Petersburg, VA March 25, 1865 that died of measles while a POW on June 4, 1865 at Point Lookout, MD a son? Was ELIZABETH MINICK who died Fayette, Co., at age 68, Sep 1850 his wife?

I am seeking information on the following people and would like to share what information I have concerning the Duke and Norton family in Marion/Lamar Co. AL and TX after 1850 SEBRON DUKE b circa 1805 in GA, 1850 Monroe Co. GA census - owned land in the 60th district - moved Marion Co AL 1860 - was a black smith in Marion Co. WILLIAM BERRY NORTON b 1820 in NC married OLIVE DUKE on 12/31/1843 - he died May of 1853 in GA. He was a tenant farmer on SEBRON DUKES farm in 1850. OLIVE (SEBRON's daughter ) was born 9/16/1824 in Monroe Co. GA. Olive and her sons moved to Marion Co. AL. with SEBRON and family circa 1855. BERRY NORTON b circa 1790 in NC - appears in Fayette Co. GA on the 1840 & 1850 census-appears in Richmond Co. NC in 1820 (along with 8 other NORTON families) - wife's name may have been CELIA ? WILLIAM G. NORTON appearing in the 1840 & 1850 Fayette Co. GA census - born in VA circa 1790's JENKINS NORTON b circa 1815 - in Fayette Co. GA 1850 NAZARETH NORTON b circa 1816 - in Fayette Co. GA 1850 Also I would like information about WILLIAM BERRY NORTON's grave site. Family recollection is that it was visited and tended as late as 1910 to 1920 and that it was in a garden or close to a residence. Possibly at least (2) more family members are buried there. Trips were made by family members to visit relatives in the Fairburn GA area (1870 to 1920). My guess for the grave site is 1) the 60th district of Monroe Co. GA (1850 time frame) 2) the Fairburn GA. area 3) Fayette Co. GA. Mick Norton,PO box 890,Vernon AL 35592
