DELTA SERVICES
Beginning in 2003, the Delta Genealogical Society will make available to members and others the following lookup services for records available in Chattanooga TN repositories:
1. Obituaries for Chattanooga, NW Georgia, and NE Alabama
published in a Chattanooga, TN based newspapers
2. City directory entries for Chattanooga and Hamilton County,
TN, 1876-2002
3. Property transfer records for Chattanooga and Hamilton County,
TN.
4. Biographical notes in published sources
5. Inscriptions on tombstones from printed sources
6. Other specific record sources including census records.
PROCEDURE FOR REQUESTING SERVICES
Send a check payable to Delta Genealogical Society for $5.00 for each type of record requested along with a stamped self-addressed envelope and your list of records being requested, including name, type of record, estimated date, and probable location.
Our volunteers will promptly find and make copies of the requested records and send them to you in the envelope that you provided. If no records are found, we will mail to you a partial refund with a note explaining why. (If you do not want a refund please so indicate, and the money will be placed in Delta's operating fund account). The first five dollars will be retained to cover cost of responding, etc.
NOTE: The lookups will be by volunteers who are not certified genealogist. We will document the sources we use for your records. However, no warranty is intended or implied for the work performed. In case of error we will cheerfully made a second review of the records with no charge.
