This cemetery is located on Canton Road at its intersection with the eastbound Shallowford Road. It is owned by a private individual and is in absolutely hiddeous shape. A second visit showed absolutely no improvement, even with the death of much vegetation in the winter months. The cemetery, which is no longer an active cemetery and does not even have a visible sign, is badly overgrown. I was only able to actually see a handful of graves, and many of the stones were simply unreachable for numerous reasons, including concerns about the vermin that reside in the taller than Michael Jordan vegetation in that cemetery. It is my understanding that this cemetery actually contains two cemeteries, as Old Noonday Cemetery is now part of this one. I saw evidence of the same in the form of a chain link fence, but determined that it was simply not safe to visit. On a subsequent visit, I was able to access the Old Noonday cemetery area. It appears that there has been dumping of fencing materials and dead trees and leaves in the area of this historic cemetery. I will attempt to visit this cemetery again when the weather turns cold enough to send vermin into hibernation and allow the heavy growth to die down. I fully intend to apprise the local authorities of the condition of this cemetery and beg for some action under applicable Georgia law, particularly having found a burial from 1973 in this cemetery.
