'Reuben Norton called to tell me this is Roger Mills, Jr. I think he's right. There are several similar pics of him in Mama Shaw's album with Jesse and Roger Sr.'                 ~ Terrell Shaw  (December 27, 2004)

I received a phone call from Reuben Norton confirming that this is Roger Mills, Jr. He was killed in Mississippi in 1966. - Beth Shaw, March 18, 2005.

Roger Quincy Mills, Jr.

July 20, 1925 - August 2, 1966

Roger married Nona Dell Smith on December 25, 1945 in Jonesboro, Clayton County, Georgia. They had four children:

  • Gail Elise Mills

  • Nona Dyan Mills

  • Cheryl Lynn Mills

  • Roger Quincy Mills, III

His parents were: Roger Quincy Mills, Sr. (born July 29, 1903 in Abbeville, South Carolina, died about 1988 in Atlanta, Georgia) and Jessie Mae Wilkerson (November 8, 1905 in Aragon, Polk County, Georgia, died about 1988 in Atlanta, Georgia).

Their children were:

  • Roger Quincy Mills, Jr. - born 7/20/1925 in Atlanta, Georgia - died 8/2/1966 in Jackson, Mississippi. Married Nona Dell Smith, December 25, 1945 in Jonesboro, Clayton County, Georgia. Nona Dell Smith was born in 1925 in Meadville, Mississippi.

  • Grady Reuben Mills - born 10/4/1928 in Atlanta, Georgia. Married Marjorie Carlisle, September 7, 1950 in Marietta, Cobb County, Georgia.

  • Elsie Mae Mills - born 1/14/1930 in Atlanta, Georgia. Married Harold William Bivens, July 2, 1945 in College Park, Fulton County, Georgia.

  • Barbara Jean Mills - 10/24/1933 in Atlanta, Georgia. Married Herbert H. Roe, July 15, 1950 in Conyers, Rockdale County, Georgia.
