Request for help with surveying cemeteries
from Judy Hammond Bond
I tried to send something on local
hidden cemeteries to the person with this
[email protected]
on the Milstead website site, and it got kicked back to me. Here
it is, if you want to put it up for people to read.
I saw your
posting on the Milstead website. I have found an old family
cemetery you might be interested in. (Not sure of who the family
is.) North on 20 from Milstead, turn right on Zingara Road, then
right on Hi Rock Road. About a half mile down Hi Rock road,
you'll see a new subdivision being cut, the roads are still
dirt, but the curbing has been put in already. When you pull in
the road from Hi Rock, go to the top of the hill, and take a
left. About an eighth mile down, you'll see a gray barn up in
the field to your right, at a tree line. Right behind the barn
is a decent sized family cemetery to ramble through.
There's also one
in North Rockdale about 300 feet before the Rockdale/Walton
County line in the Indian Shoals subdivision. (I think that's
the name of the subdivision, I know it's Indian
something subdivision). It's on the right hand side of the road.
If you pull in the subdivision, it's either in the front yard of
the third or fourth house on the right. There's supposedly one
right behind the Shell gas station on the right, where Pleasant
Hill Road runs into Hwy. 20 at the red-light. I haven't been
able to get there yet though.
I'm also very
interested in them, if you'll share some locations with me,
it'll be highly appreciated.
