A Slave Inventory of Franklin Washington Cheney
The Federal Writers' Project was part of the Depression-era Works Progress Administration. Designed to provide work for unemployed writers, the project involved more than 300 writers in 24 states. These writers collected stories (oral histories) from more than 10,000 people from 1935 through 1942.
