Guilty of Abduction

The Weekly Constitution, Atlanta, Ga. June 28, 1892

Savannah, Ga., June 25.-- Alice White was found guilty today of abduction. She was implicated in the sensational kidnaping of Ella Holmes, a thirteen-year-old white girl, for immoral purposes. Ella, it will be remembered, was concealed in a trunk while the detectives were searching for her, and was subsequently put through a bogus marriage ceremony with Percy Sibly, and then taken into the country. Alice White, although but nineteen years old, is regarded as one of the toughest and most abandoned white women in Savannah. It is believed she will get the full penalty of the law -- seven years in the penitentiary. Pearl Pendegrast, principal in the abduction, will be put on trial next week.
